  • Best BlueTooth Mouse for the PB?

I just bought a new PB G4 and I'm considering BT mice. I'd like it just to have 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. Don't care too much about mappable buttons, look, docking port.
Here is what I've seen so far:
    - Logitech MX 900
    • MacMice The Mouse BT
    • Kensington PilotMouse BT

I've read a couple of reviews and although the MacMice has an awesome look and smooth wheel, its use is not perfect (lag, errand cursor,...). The Kensington appears as the safe bet... Any thought? Thanks !

Check Macally. I have a the BT Mouse Jr and like it.
It is small enough to carry in my very small carry case,
but large enough to feel good (mini, not micro). It has
an auto shutoff, uses 2 AA, and is the color and texture
of the PB. The only disadvantage is it occasionally
turns on in the case when the button is accidently pushed.

They have a newer model with a switch, the BTmicro.
It is white, uses 2 AAA (rechargable), and same price,
but has a extra usb cradle to charge it.

I went to Radio Shack and got a micro-switch I am going to
install this summer for using when it is stored for longer
times in the bag. This will help the batteries last longer that
the 9 weeks my last pair lasted. I will document the process
with pics to post on one of those mac hack sites.

It is my understanding that the MX 900 is not Mac compatible.
But maybe that was just not being able to get all the extra
buttons to work on a Mac.

I also have the BTMouse Jr. and I have to say that I'm very happy with it. Battery life is good, responsiveness is good, and although it's called a Jr, it feels almost like a full size mouse (which I like). Just as a work around to the turning on when a button is pressed thing (wow that was a mouthful), when I'm putting my mouse in my bag, I put a small piece of paper between one of the batteries and the terminal. This prevents battery loss due to accidental button pressing. Hth

Some months ago I got a BT500 from Bluetake

    http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT500.htm

It has a slide switch for when you put it away, battery life is good (uses AAA), and it has an optional case that not only protects it inside your carrybag, but also has room for spare batteries.

I have seen the Bluetake online before and considered
getting one. I am not sure if the shape would be comfortable
for me and haven't yet found a place to touch one.

I've a question for you. Does the Bluetake have an auto
shutoff feature to go with the switch?

I am also concerned about getting a mouse that requires me
to remember to shut it off. Without an auto shutoff batteries
will drain quickly unless I always remember to hit the switch.
I and many road warriors I know do not like that 'feature'.
We want a real quick grab, toss in bag, and go.

I picked up a Rad Tech BT500 (same as the Bluetake BT500). I have to say that I'm not all that impressed with it. The feel is kinda cheap and too glossy. More important the cursor is erratic and not very smooth with this mouse and while I can get used to it if it was the only mouse I used I don't think it's up to par. The Apple Bluetooth mouse lacks the second button and scroll wheel but it's a much better mouse in comparison.

Just my two cents... and back in the market for a mouse for the PB.

I finally went for the BT Micro from Macally and I'm very pleased with it ! Sure it is a small mouse and might not be the best if you have huge hands but for me, (5'9 and average size hands), i quickly get used to the size. The setup took approximately 5s and I was already browsing around. The sensitivity is pretty high but nothing you can't correct in the System Preferences. Scrolling is really smooth, no problem with clicking and so far, no problem with the rechargeable batteries and the cradle. For just 40$, it was really worth it !

I've got the iogear mini bluetooth mouse arriving tommorow (hopefuly... don't mess up the delivery FedEx) and i'll post a review for all to see immediatly after it arrives, and an update a few weeks later with any issues i find. I look forward to having this mouse, and it got my decision, because it's feature to charge the rechargable batteries via usb, and work as a normal usb mouse when connected/recharging... great idea I think. Again, I'll let you know soon as i get it tested.

I also have the iogear mini bluetooth mouse. It has performed perfectly. Never a connection problem. Tracking is smooth -- very precise, in fact. I love the usb recharger, especially since I can still use the mouse while recharging. I also use it as a remote control for presentations. It's a great mouse for travel. Be warned, though -- the mouse is very small. I have small hands, and still find it a bit tiring to use for detailed graphic work or for long periods. It is fine for standard office apps and just mousing around. When I am doing more detailed work, I just switch over to my iMac, so can use my MS trackball, which I prefer to mice anyway.

    Hi DjFIL -
Finally ordered my new PB today and had (in May) decided on the iogear mini mouse after reading the boards. I wondered if you have been satisfied with the mouse?

It looks like someone has finally come out with something that many of us have been looking for: a full-sized bluetooth mouse with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel - nothing fancy.

    http://www.macally.com/new/new_btmouse.html

I'm not even sure if it's available yet, but as soon as I can try it out, it'll probably be the one that I get.

    good battery life.

    Hi Matthieu,

If a cordless mouse with USB receiver is also an option I would defenitly suggest buying the Logitech V500 cordless notebook mouse. It fits the PB optically very well: Brushed Al with blue-silver finish. It is very well built (Aluminium as mentioned) and it has a new kind of scroll wheel ( in fact it is a two-direction touch-sensitive surface). It expands 7° to power up and then it is very comfortable to use. The size is just perfect for a mobile device.

But in fact it is not Bluetooth, so one of the two precious USB-ports has to be used
