The audio output option in System Preferences changes on me when I don't have headphones plugged in. It goes back and forth between "Headphones" and Internal Speakers. I am thinking that it could be a hardware issue because when you plug headphones into the headphone port, the system preferences change, and it is behaving like I am plugging them in and out, only nothing is plugged in. Is it possible that this is a software issue? I've tried running techtool pro and repair permissions but nothing seems to do the trick. Is there a mechanism that recognizes when you plug headphones in and changes the system preferences to comply? Is it possible that it's dirty or something? Any help would be great. Thanks. When I have headphones plugged in, it stays on "Headphones" and doesn't change. Powerbook G4 15 1.5ghz Mac OS X (10.4.2)
